A badge of Jewish pride
A badge of pride.
A display of our unwavering faith and identity.
The unfaltering formula of connection between man and Creator.
These are the Tefillin. The symbol marks an engagement with the Divine through the trifecta of mind, heart, and body.
Why Tefillin?
Our mind embodies the world of ideas. It is cold, calculating intellect, immutably objective while seeking the truth behind everything.
Our heart is the seat of emotions. A world of passion and warmth, peaks and valleys; a tapestry of feelings and subjectivity.
Our hands represent the reality of action. Our behavior and habits, what we actually do throughout the daily grind.
Jewish tradition tells us: Once a day, every day, synthesize your inner system. Wear the Tefillin on your hand and head, and wrap it around your arm, pointing at your heart.
Once a day we align them all in a unified vision and goal of synthesizing our world and touching the divine.
Who wear Tefillin and when?
As a time bound Mitzvah, Jewish men over the age of Bar Mitzvah (13+) wear Tefillin daily.
Ideally, Tefillin are worn bright and early in the AM. Missed it then? No worries. Tefillin can be worn anytime before dark.
